LIQEN es un artista originario de Vigo (Galicia-España) cuyo discurso artístico comienza desde la propia elección de su seudónimo, Liqen, un nombre que designa un pseudovegetal y desde cuya identificación crea un universo de imágenes que orbitan alrededor del concepto de la vida. Vida orgánica, vida vegetal, animal. En sus ilustraciones, pinturas o muros nos encontramos elementos vivos que crecen unos encima de otros, se retuercen, evolucionan, en una interpretación muy particular de la naturaleza en sus diferentes formas, contraponiendo las cosas inertes, símbolos de la industralización, a la imparable energía de lo vivo.
Su estilo mezcla diferentes influencias de una manera espontánea, destacando ilustración, cómic y street art. su uso del color es contundente y rico, apoyando con fuerza una línea omnipresente con ecos de artistas en la línea del tristemente fallecido Moebius. LIQEN is an artist from Vigo (Galicia-Spain) whose artistic concept starts from the choice of his pseudonym, Liqen, a name that designates a pseudovegetal and from which he creates a universe of images orbiting around the idea of life. In his illustrations, paintings or wall artworks we see tons of living things growing on top of each other, twisting and evolving in a very particular interpretation of nature in its different forms, contrasting with inorganic things, symbols of industrialization, with the unstoppable energy of life.
He combines different influences in a spontaneous way, highlighting illustration, comic and street art. His use of color is strong and rich, with a hard use of line that echoes with artists in the style of the sadly deceased Moebius. He is, with other amazing artists, from a generation who operates mostly in Comics and illustration, and with his quality works, he has placed Galicia as one of the landmarks in Spain.
